Updated 29 Iulai 2020
The health and safety of our keiki in our care is our top priority. As such, all ʻAha Pūnana Leo (ʻAPL) preschools follow COVID-19 health and safety protocols, based on the Department of Human Services Guidelines for Child Care Facilities and the Centers for Disease Control.
The ʻAPL wants to ensure that we are monitoring the situation closely. Based on the information we have to date, we will continue to operate our Pūnana Leo (PL) Preschools to minimize disruption to our families. If the situation should change, we will notify our families immediately.
Effective August 3, 2020, the first day of the new school year, the ʻAPL will be taking extra precautions to ward off the Coronavirus. We are taking these additional steps to support the health and safety of all keiki, families and our staff.
The following are examples of some of the changes to our policies and procedures:
-
Cleaning and Sanitizing: Additional staffing will be scheduled to implement the DHS cleaning and sanitation guidelines. The PL preschool will complete a thorough and detailed cleaning of the entire facility before the new school year. Staff will frequently disinfect high-touched surfaces and shared resources during operational hours.
-
Physical Distancing: Six-feet physical distancing will be maintained to the fullest extent possible and new Drop-off & Pick-up as well as Screening Procedures will be implemented.
-
Health and Safety: Staff, parents, and keiki shall not enter the PL facility and quarantine per the DOH guidelines if exposed to COVID-19 and will conduct frequent temperature checks for keiki and staff.
-
Facility Safety: Facility safety will consist of the usage of face coverings, the constant washing and sanitizing of hands, cleaning and disinfecting, physical distancing, the prohibiting of any visitors and constant training of staff.
We will continue to update you as we proceed in planning, based on the information received from relevant state agencies.
